• Scott Reynolds is the Founding and Lead Pastor of North River Church in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He is a sought-after consultant for church plants and has been recognized for his leadership in the area of new church works. Reynolds is the author of Journey Deeper, and lives with his wife, Lori, and two children, Ariel and Dean, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.  

  • Nate Young serves as our executive pastor. He and his wife, Carrie, have two daughters (Cate and Abbie). Nate and his family have been a part of North River since 2006, but joined our staff in 2017. Prior to this, Nate was a state missionary with the Alabama Baptist State Board of Missions where he served as campus minister at The University of Alabama Baptist Campus Ministries.

  • Mark Patterson serves as Worship Leader for North River Church. Mark and his wife, Jodie, along with their kids, Brown, Bette and Kerr invite you to come and experience meaningful worship through music and the preaching of God’s word.


  • Mike Shaw has served as our Growth Groups Pastor  since 2013. Mike is bi-vocational pastor, he works full-time as a pilot with the University of Alabama. Mike is a 2011 graduate of Liberty University with a Masters Degree in Pastoral Counseling. Mike and his wife, DeAnna, have three daughters, Miranda, Caitlyn & Brianna and a granddaughter, Olivia. 

  • Sara is from Montgomery, AL, and she moved to Tuscaloosa to attend The University of Alabama. She graduated with a Communications degree and is now our organizer and administrator for all things related to Family Ministry here at NRC.  

  • Butch Roshto joined the staff in May 2009 on a bi-vocational level. The Lord led Butch and his wife, Nancy, to NRC in January 2008. The Roshto's have served churches in Louisiana, Arkansas and Alabama through music, youth ministry, church planting, and pastoring. Butch and Nancy have three grown children and seven wonderful grandchildren.

  • Rachel Whitehurst serves as the Church Management Administrator for North River Church. She has been with us since the Spring of 2013 after serving with the Youth and College at FBC Tuscaloosa. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 2008 with a degree in Interior Design. Rachel enjoys using her design skills and knowledge to create graphics for NRC.
