Summer is here and we are ecstatic! In the next few months The Local Church has SO many events to look forward to; today we have three fun new things to share from this month!
The biggest news happened last night. We held our first Launch Team Interest Meeting and had 8 new people join the launch team! Justin has a current catch-phrase that some of you may have heard him say recently- Jesus is building His church. And it is so true! We are so humbled that God is bringing others alongside us to catch the vision and reach the people of Olde Town Arvada, Golden, Denver, and beyond with the Gospel. We will hold these meetings monthly and broadcast them on Facebook, so be on the lookout for the next one on July 11th.
We also held our first serve day this month at a Hope House where our team was able to make 80 freezer meals for the teen moms to take as they need them while they work on their GED's, work multiple jobs, and raise their little ones. The volunteer director at Hope House said the meals were almost gone in a matter of days! Our team also made cards in Spanish and English with scripture in them to go along with the meals and we pray God's Word was a light and encouragement to each girl who took home a meal.
Another opportunity for The Local Church to serve this month was when Elyzabeth, the Family Liason Coordinator at our partner school Arvada K-8, called Justin and asked if he knew anyone who could provide 100 recorders for their students for the 2021-2022 school year. He answered that he did know someone who could help- The Local Church! Your generosity allowed us to be quickly generous and fulfill this need. That is just one small story of how we have built rapport with Arvada K-8, and it is such an answer to prayer that Elyzabeth is trusting us more and more!
Finally, Justin had a vision to go alongside our 'Local' mission to create shirts honoring Olde Town Arvada and sell them around town for a local charity. A graphic designer friend of Justin's, Nate Farrow, who works with Lifeway, designed the shirts based off several pictures of the Olde Town landscape, and Justin partnered with several local shop owners to sell them with all proceeds going to Hope House. It is so fun to see them around town, and has helped Justin build relationships with other business owners. The local stores have sold out and had to restock already, and they've become so popular the City of Arvada ordered 25 shirts as well! Here is the cutest model (in our humble opinion) in the baby onesie version.
Three things to pray for in the coming month:
1. That Abi, Kate, Shelby, AJ (Hunter Bay Coffee), AJ (our neighbor) Aly, Lucas, Meradith, Carci, Megan, and Keller would all decide to follow Jesus. 2. That the Launch Team continues to grow. 3. For connections in the local neighborhoods and subsequently a highly attended soccer camp later this summer.
