Give Sent

Expanding NRC’s opportunities to pursue and point to Jesus.

Our Give Sent campaign is all about challenging each other to give beyond our tithes to pay off our property loan. We still owe $600 thousand on our loan, and with your generous gifts, we hope to pay that off quicker in the next three years.

F.A.Q.'s

What is Give Sent?
“Give Sent” is North River Church’s program to pay the remaining debt for our land and buildings. Our goal is to become debt-free in the next three years.
What are the numbers?
In 2011, we borrowed $2.2 million to move our home to 4215 Rice Mine Road. In December 2025, we still owed $600,000. We still have another decade remaining on our loan. Our general budget includes $74,000 per year on principal and interest for this loan.
How does Give Sent relate to my current tithes and offereings?
Scripture is clear that believers must give of their income to support their church. Give Sent is designed to be a gift above and beyond your continuing tithe or offering to North River Church. Your usual offering should continue, so we can meet our church’s basic needs.

As Pastor Nate Young has said: “We tithe out of obedience. We give an offering out of overflow.”
Why pay it off now?
Every dollar we pay in interest is a dollar we cannot spend on ministry at church and for missions here and abroad. Every dollar given to Give Sent goes directly to the loan principal, helping us save thousands of dollars in interest.
Why call it "Give Sent"?
Yes, it rhymes with our church’s motto, “Live Sent.” We chose “Give Sent” to remind us that we are a giving church – especially when it comes to mission work in Tuscaloosa and across the globe.

North River Church has a heart for missions, and we back it up with our giving. Our church designates 12% of its annual budget to missions. And our Every Cent Sent” effort – giving every tithe and offering dollar to missions after our church budget is met – makes us unusual and remarkable among congregations.

Give Sent means we can give even more to missions, as we complete the campaign and move toward being debt-free.
How may I give?
We ask that you give as the Lord leads you. It may be a one-time gift or a continuing gift during the next three years.

We ask that it be in the spirit of “not equal gifts, but equal sacrifice.” We recognize that not everyone can or should give the same amount.

We pray that you give in the spirit of cheerfulness and generosity – not reluctantly or from feeling compelled, as Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 9:6-7.
What's the timeline?
  • Now through January: We ask that you pray and think about your gift beyond your tithe/offering. You will receive a commitment card in January, which is the church’s only expense on this campaign.
  • Sunday, February 8: We ask that you make your commitment before or on this Sunday. You will receive pledge cards in the mail, or you can fill out this pledge form online.
  • March: We begin our continuing gifts. You will receive instructions on the specific ways to give online or in other ways.
